HABIT BUILDING IN 2023

You all. The new year is almost here. 2022 was my favorite year yet, but I already know 2023 will be the best with all that is in-store (business, wedding, and more!). I know for a fact that I am not the only one who is ready for the year...

A FRESH START, A NEW BEGINNING, EXCITING MOTIVATION, AND ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

That is what a new year is to me. I thrive on the excitement of a new planner, the start of a new week, and the goal-setting that each month of a year brings. Therefore, the new year is one of my FAVORITE times of the year. If you are anything like me (which if you clicked this article, the chances are high), this time of year excites you too.

Are your overwhelmed with endless potential of whatt your goals could be? Or you are hyper focused on the end goal or the specific number you are trying to reach (50lbs, run 20 miles, etc) rather than the journey to reaching your goal? I know how this typically ends because I have been there all too many times. Looking back through goals that I set in previous years, hardly any were reachable because I didn't put in place the actions to make them a reality.

THAT'S WHY THIS YEAR, YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON HABIT FORMATION.

Habit formation is the biggest secret to success out there. Look at top business owners, most of them have very specific routines. These routines and their daily actions are what have allowed them to become leaders in their industry.

Your health is the same way. Taking time to focus on habit formation rather than the quick fixes or end goals, will lead you to sustainable wellness. This can be daily walks, getting in a vegetable every day, meditating every morning, etc. All these little tasks done daily will add up to your end goal of a happy, healthy lifestyle.

Over the past year I have gone through some important mindset shifts that have allowed me to realize that I want my health to last a lifetime so I am creating habits that will endure the test of time.

My resolutions this year all focus on habit formation and I intend to make these goals a reality.

HABITS TO BUILD IN 2023

Nutrition: focus on whole foods and daily action items when it comes to your nutrition

  • eat 3 vegetables every day

  • focus on hitting your macros most days (see this post for info on this)

  • enjoy all foods in moderation by giving yourself grace and living in the moment, while ensuring to get in a variety of foods

  • Drink 80+ oz of water every day

Fitness: find the form of movement you love the most (workout classes, running, yoga, strength training, etc) and work it into your weekly schedule

  • move your body every day whether it is a walk in the park, a HIIT workout, or a yoga class with friends

  • Sign up for classes on Sunday to have classes to look forward to in the new week

  • Make weekly movement dates with friends or family to build connections and your fitness habit at the same time

  • Hit 10,000 steps 5x a week

Confidence: confidence-building will take time but the only way to become confident is to make confidence a habit

  • Make vision boards and write affirmations everywhere in your home. Anytime you see them say them out loud and manifest them into being.

  • Every morning repeat what your most confident future self would think when she sees herself in the mirror (mine says: "You are beautiful inside and out with a confidence that instills happiness in those around you")

  • To be happy with who you are, work every day to catch yourself saying just one thing negative about your body, hair, or anything else and immediately shut the thought down and tell yourself that you are amazing just the way you are and are on a journey to healing your negative thinking

These are just a few examples of habits that will transform your new year resolutions into reality. Start small with one from each category and once they become habits (give it a good 30 days of effort) then add on others each month for new challenges to make your dream life happen.
